The box elder (Acer negundo) is native to eastern North America, but has been naturalized in Central Europe since 1688. It can grow up to about 50 feet tall.
The wood is rather light, while the burl is bright, light, and often streaked with red veins. It can sometimes deliver a beautiful grain that looks simply gorgeous when polished. It is easy to work with and is used for decorative crafts.
