Box Elder (Acer negundo)The box elder (Acer negundo) is native to eastern North America, but has been naturalized in Central Europe since 1688. It can grow up to about 50 feet tall.
The wood is rather light, while the burl is bright, light, and often streaked with red veins. It can sometimes deliver a beautiful grain that looks simply gorgeous when polished. It is easy to work with and is used for decorative crafts.

Dimensions: approx. 125 x 17 x 17 mm, Pen Blank for small and middle size pen kits

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
