Lacewood (Louro faia) comes from South America, especially from the entire Amazon basin. It has also been called lacewood or pearlwood, describing the wood’s tendency to produce silvery small beads.  This only happens when cut radially and can be quite intense, depending on the light.
The wood is hard, heavy, and somewhat brittle. It is used among other things as wood for decorative furniture or in fine crafts and also veneers.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
