Tineo (Weinmannia trichosperma) is native to South America and is also called the Indian apple tree, although it has nothing to do with India nor does it bear much resemblance to apple wood.
The wood is heavy and hard due to its high density, which can sometimes make processing a little more difficult and requires some experience. On the other hand, tineo wood convinces with its even and fine texture, as the annual rings are rather narrow and the overall appearance is characterised by clearly visible pore grooves. The colour shades of the heartwood can range from dark pink to reddish-brown. Sometimes the wood is interspersed with greenish black stripes. Quite weather-resistant, it nevertheless has only a low resistance to insects and the like, which is why appropriate protection should be considered for outdoor use.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
