Hybridwood consists partly of wood and partly of acrylic and/or epoxy resins in various colors. The two materials are bonded together using a special high-pressure process. The resulting hybrid material is easy to work with and retains its shape well. You may need to resharpen your tools more frequently. To achieve stunning visual effects, ground mother-of-pearl is sometimes used, which tends to dull sharp, cutting tools more quickly than usual.

We have manufactured the blank offered here for you in-house using a complex process.

Prickly juniper (Juniperus oxycedrus)The prickly juniper (Juniperus oxycedrus) can live for up to 600 years, which is quite amazing its relatively small size (rarely more than 40 feet with a trunk diameter rarely hitting 30 inches and more commonly 4 to 8 inches across). It is primarily found the western Mediterranean, mainly France and Portugal. It can take shapes that could not be more different: it ranges from a creeping bush to a relatively large tree. The juniper is associated with mystical powers. The wood, the dry berries, and the needles have been used for millennia by the Germanic, Celtic, Slavic and even Tibetan tribes as a form of incense. Anyone who has had the chance to smell the resinous juniper wood is familiar with its quite fragrant scent. Fabulous.
Juniper burl also has the same lovely fragrance: I personally can't get enough of the smell. The smell is really only topped by the appearance, which is just spectacular. The pieces available here all come from France, where juniper is traded as "Bois de Cade". This wood is hard, dense, and has a very strong color rather reminiscent of yew.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
