Hybrid wood consists partially of wood, and partially of different coloured acrylic resins. They are merged (cast) in a special process. The resulting hybrid material can be processed easily and is dimensionally stable. You may need to sharpen your tools quite often. In order to achieve great visual effects, partly ground mother of pearl shell is used, which can blunt sharp cutting tools faster than usual.

The wooden parts of this blank is stabilized with acrylic resin and fully impregnated. However, it can be easily worked with sharp tools, and any odor is minimal and negligible. The stabilization process results in excellent hardness, durability, and stability. This makes it well-suited for heavy-duty use and damp environments, such as outdoor applications.

We have produced the blank offered here for you using a complex process in our own production.

The Ohio horse chestnut (Aesculus glabra), a deciduous tree or shrub growing 10 to 30 meters tall, is native to North America and belongs to the horse chestnut genus (Aesculus), which includes two varieties that differ primarily in their leaves. The wood, which ranges in color from yellowish-white to a faint reddish-brownish hue, shows virtually no color difference between heartwood and sapwood; the large burls are particularly sought after. Overall rather soft and susceptible to fungal and insect infestation, it is characterized by its uniform, fine-grained structure and is used in furniture making, for flooring, and also in the construction of musical instruments. Despite its twisted growth, it is relatively easy to work with, provided the tools are properly adjusted and sharpened. Surface treatment also poses no difficulties.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
