Hybrid wood consists partially of wood, and partially of different coloured acrylic resins. They are merged (cast) in a special process. The resulting hybrid material can be processed easily and is dimensionally stable. You may need to sharpen your tools quite often. In order to achieve great visual effects, partly ground mother of pearl shell is used, which can blunt sharp cutting tools faster than usual.

The wooden parts of this blank is stabilized with acrylic resin and fully impregnated. However, it can be easily worked with sharp tools, and any odor is minimal and negligible. The stabilization process results in excellent hardness, durability, and stability. This makes it well-suited for heavy-duty use and damp environments, such as outdoor applications.

We have produced the blank offered here for you using a complex process in our own production.

Amboyna (Pterocarpus indicus)The Amboyna (Pterocarpus indicus) probably gets its name from its prevalence on the island of Ambon in Indonesia. It is a species of padauk tree, which are not exactly rare and even extend as far as Africa. However, the 3-dimensionality and distinctive beauty of the Amboyna is second to none. Moreover, since it has a quite faultless burl, amboine is a highly coveted veneer wood and is used, for example, on Rolls Royce fittings.

The piece is dry and can be processed immediately

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
