Curly Gidgee (Acacia cambagei) is a tree with origin in Australia and a growth height of up to 12 meters. Along with desert ironwood, it is one of the hardest woods. Since the drying process takes a very long time, it is exclusively collected as deadwood, which makes it very rare.
The heavy and dense wood can be polished and used for various decorative purposes, for example pretty knife handles or writing utensils. The wood is also used in musical instrument making.
For machining, carbide-tipped tools should be preferred, as common tool steel shows faster wear.

Dimensions: approx. 125 x 40 x 30 mm

The handle block is sanded and coated with a layer of shellac.
This allows you to see exactly the color you will obtain.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
