Amazon rosewood (Dalbergia spruceana) comes mainly from Brazil, but grow throughout the Amazon basin. With an appearance and technical properties like those of Brazilian rosewood, it is often used as a substitute.
The wood is heavy, hard, and dense. It is usually a deep or dark red-brown with black stripes. It has very good sound characteristics which makes it useful as a sounding board for various instruments. It is also well suited for intricate turning work.

The handle block is sanded and coated with a layer of shellac.
This allows you to see exactly the color you will obtain.


Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
