Wood Atlas - Xylarium

Platanus

lat. Platanus x hispanica

Platanus

London Plane (Platanus x hispanica) The London plane (Platanus x hispanica) has hairy, globular fruits and very striking bark, which is relatively thin, grey, and peels off not unlike dandruff. The plane is a widely used in Europe to line streets. Its immunity to car exhaust makes it predestined to this role. It’s also a grand tree than can reach heights of up to 160 feet, with high crown that spreads out wide.
The wood
is medium hard and moderately heavy. It is good for many projects and also quite decorative.

Find the right wood by appearance!
Our wood atlas makes it significantly easier to find the right wood for your projects.
But, as you know, wood is a natural product and what us shown here is only
a sample and the actual piece may vary in color and pattern.

Tip: Use the left and right arrows to navigate; to select the wood currently show, click on the link below the image. The wood atlas is by no means exhaustive and is constantly being expanded. But, on the whole, almost all the woods we have in stock are shown.
