Wood Atlas - Xylarium
Chakte Kok / Red Heart
lat. Sickingia salvadorensis
Red Heart
Chakte kok (Sickingia salvadorensis) comes from the tropics of Central America, where it grows as a deciduous tree. The beautiful red color of the heartwood has also earned it the name red heart. The beautiful bright red color does fade somewhat over the years when exposed to UV light. If this is an issue, you may wish to use a UV-resistant surface treatment.
The wood is hard, dense, and of medium weight, suitable for art objects. But it can also be used to make furniture and instruments.
Find the right wood by appearance!
Our wood atlas makes it significantly easier to find the right wood for your projects.
But, as you know, wood is a natural product and what us shown here is only
a sample and the actual piece may vary in color and pattern.
Tip: Use the left and right arrows to navigate; to select the wood currently show, click on the link below the image. The wood atlas is by no means exhaustive and is constantly being expanded. But, on the whole, almost all the woods we have in stock are shown.
