Precious wood of the month: Chechen Burl - 10% discount04.03.2020
Chechen (Metopium brownei) comes from the tropical forests of Mexico, Cuba, Guatemala, Jamaica, Belize, and the Dominican Republic. It is also known as Caribbean rosewood or black poisonwood, reflecting the skin irritant released by the tree’s fresh bark. However, the wood is unproblematic.
The wood is hard and dense with a color that can vary greatly from brown to red and intermediate shades. Its texture can also differ from very fine to relatively coarse. It is used to make furniture, in turning, and as hardwood flooring.
