Australian Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) © Eric in SFAustralian blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) comes from Tasmania and the eastern parts of Australia. It’s also called Tasmanian blackwood or lightwood. The tree now grows South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The tree can grow between 65 and 100 feet tall with a circumference of 20-35 feet.
The wood is hard and heavy. The curly grain can be very decorative. It is often used in furniture, making musical instruments, and boat making, but of course in the more common wood quality and not the very rare curly form.

Dimensions: approx. 125 x 40 x 30 mm

The handle block is sanded and coated with a layer of shellac.
This allows you to see exactly the color you will obtain.

Finely grained wood may contain imperfections such as open knots, bark inclusions, or cracks that are typical of the species. These flaws come from the way the tree has grown and are completely natural. They can usually be filled with low-viscosity cyanoacrylate (super glue) and wood dust.
